Master Planning
Marian Retirement Center Master Plan
Marian Retirement Center is located in Sublimity, a small town of 1,000 inhabitants about fifteen miles east of Salem, Oregon. Consisting of flat to rolling topography with scattered stands of Douglas Fir trees, the site consists of 33 acres, with views of the Cascade Range from half of the site. This master plan was intended for use as a phased development plan to guide growth of the site through a five year, $10 million expansion program. The Marian Cetner planned to increase the resident population of the facility of from about two hundred to six hundred within this five year period, while increasing the staff from one hundred seventy to three hundred during the same period. The facilitiy's growth will have the effect of doubling the size of the town of Sublimity. Demuth Glick Consultants, Ltd., under Fred Glick's direction, undertook an analysis of building and facilities expansion, as well as developing a more effective road and pedestrian circulation system, site imagery, open space and recreation areas.
