Master Planning
North Bend Gravel Mine Operation • Reclamation Concepts
Mr. Glick led development of an extensive visual assessment and landscape reclamation concepts for this large-scale, 25-year gravel mining operation in North Bend, Washington. Fred supervised preparation of over 100 computer-generated simulations illustrating key visual impacts from significant locations throughout the North Bend region, including views from nearby homes, roads, I-90, top of Mount Si, top of Mailbox Peak, the Iron Horse Trail, and the Snoqualmie Ridge development, to name a few. Visual simulations undertaken included (1) existing conditions, (2) views of visible impacts, and (3) views of those portions of the project not visible from a particular viewpoint. The hill at the center of the accompanying simulation highlights how vegetation cover helps soften the visual impact of this upper-level surface mine from the top of nearby Mount Si, Alternative 4, Phase 10.
