Blufftop Trail

Newport, OR

This oceanfront pedestrian trail sits on top of a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and is part of Donald A. Davis Park. The 400 foot pathway is sited to take advantage of the enormous power of the ocean from a panoramic viewpoint. At the northern tip of the park sits an octagonal pergola, a cliff-top structure enabling park visitors to find shelter while enjoying the always-changing views in inclement weather. The pathway connects the pergola with the bronze sundial and Lincoln County Vietnam Memorial pathway on the south down to the beach, stimulating the visitor's imagination while taking advantage of an occasional view of whales breaching. Mr. Glick enjoyed leading design of this park, especially afer facilitating the previous community process resulting in the City deciding to purchase the property from the landowner who had planned an RV park on this site.
