Fisherman's Terminal Improvements, Building Layout & Parking Study

Seattle, WA

The Port of Seattle was engaged in refinement of the Fishermen’s Terminal Long Term Strategic Plan. The plan calls for several new developments in support of the Fishermen’s Terminal mission to protect and grow the commercial fishing sector of the local economy. The uplands of the property is 26 acres in size and presently contains 20 buildings. The uplands buildings will continue to serve a mixture of industrial activity and commercial activity. Fred Glick served as Project Manager for the consulting team in reviewing, assessing and developing parking conditions and recommendation and plans for upgrading parking layouts for prospective new building layouts consistent with the Port’s long-range plans. The scope of work included: (1) Meetings and project coordination, aimed at learning about project objectives answering technical questions about parking code requirements, design standards, and layout strategies; (2) Researching requirements as they apply to the Fisherman’s Terminal property, such as number of stalls, and break-down of stalls by size and accessibility; (3) Gaining an appreciation for the parking needs of the various categories of Fishermen’s Terminal tenants (such as retail versus restaurant versus office); (4) Prepare layouts: the consultant prepared 10 alternative layouts for parking and commercial fishing gear storage.
