Transit Oriented Development
Mercer Island Town Center • Design Commission
As Chair of the City’s Design Commission, Mr. Glick led review of seven of the Mercer Island Town Center’s six story, 65 foot height, mixed-use buildings that now provide the urban form, physical structure, and visibility of a high-energy, successful town center. As part of the "first wave" of new, high density development in the Town Center, the accompanying photo highlights one of these seven projects, and illustrates the recently introduced urban character of the Town Center. Mr. Glick served eight years on the Commission, the last three of which were served as Chair. His urban design skills and experience allowed him to contribute to the conversion of this affluent community's previously strip commercial character, into an evolving, pedestrian-oriented, transit-friendly, robust Town Center. A future East Link light rail station will be located within several blocks of many of these new structures.
