Transit Oriented Development

West Portland Town Center Plan

Portland, OR

Mr. Glick was project manager for a land use/transportation plan that would help guide public and private investment, achieve "Metro 2040" regional growth requirements, and acknowledge the City's vision for this Town Center at the intersection of I-5, Capitol Highway, and Barbur Boulevard.  The area was slated for a future light rail corridor and was characterized by poor pedestrian and bicycle connections, poor traffic flow, and auto-oriented land uses.  The area was designated as a Town Center by the Metro Council as part of Region 2040.  Fred Glick managed a team responsible for transportation planning, traffic engineering, land use planning, and urban planning and design.  The effort was a long-range plan designed to create a framework for light rail transit, transportation, mixed use development, and natural resource features.
