Landscape Architecture

Casey Eye Institute • Oregon Health Sciences University

Portland, OR

This structure is at the main entry to the University and spans between two low hills. It was conceived as a portal to the campus, since vehicles would have to pass under it to gain access to the grounds. Fred Glick served as landscape architect working on the architectural design team led by GBD Architects of Portland with Richard Meier & Partners, Architects, of New York. Mr. Glick coordinated design of the lower campus for the University during design of the Casey Eye Institute. Redesigned portions of the site included the front lawn between Terwilliger Parkway and the new facility and a terraced lawn, plantings and street trees between the dental school and new eye center. Mr. Glick was responsible for reviewing design compliance with Pietro Belluschi, architectural advisor to the President of the University.
