Mercer Island Residence

Mercer Island, WA

This residential property formerly had an 18' x 40' swimming pool located in the lower, rear yard. The owners had the pool demolished and filled-in, then let it settle for several seasons. In 2011, Mr. Glick redesigned this portion of the property and coordinated with the landscape contractor throughout construction, essentially forming a design-build capability. The project includes a flagstone patio, crushed granite walking paths, a new lawn, perimeter plantings screening the yard from an adjacent home, a new perimeter fence, flagstone steps up to the circular drive, and careful pruning of the site's older trees, including a 60 year-old grafted apple. Existing site features such as stone walls, planting, and pool facility features were all refreshed and/or adaptively re-used.
