Urban Design & Planning
Ashland Street Transportation / Land Use Plan
Fred Glick coordinated the urban design team for Ashland Street/Highway 66, to further transform the area into a pedestrian-oriented, aesthetically pleasing corridor. The Ashland Street commercial district served as a shopping area for the community in the years during which the downtown evolved into a specialty retail tourist district. The City believed that such planning and design services would help the area to become a more inviting shopping district serving transit patrons and providing bicycle access to the area from downtown and Southern Oregon University. Services included a public participation program, redefining the street corridor to complete street status and dealing with surplus parking along the 1.4-mile Ashland Street area.
